Bespoke Wood Flooring
Kensington & Chelsea
Made-to-Order Flooring for Architecturally Significant Homes
We design and deliver bespoke wood flooring for private residences in Kensington and Chelsea where standard flooring formats are not appropriate.
Each commission is developed in response to the building itself: its proportions, structure, light conditions, and intended use rather than selected from a catalogue. The work is typically undertaken as part of wider architectural or interior refurbishment projects, often within period, listed, or conservation properties.
This service is not aimed at general flooring replacement. It is intended for homes where flooring is treated as an architectural element, resolved with the same care as joinery, stone, or metalwork
When bespoke flooring is appropriate
Bespoke wood flooring is considered where one or more of the following apply:
Building fabric requires non-standard tolerances or construction
Period or listed properties demand sympathetic formats and materials
Standard plank or parquet systems are insufficient
Subfloor conditions require engineered solutions rather than surface fixes
Longevity, repairability, and future adaptability are primary concerns
Not every property benefits from a bespoke approach. Where it is not appropriate, this is advised early.
How the work is approached
Each project follows a controlled, sequential process:
Technical survey - Structural assessment, moisture conditions, subfloor composition, and constraints.
Specification development - Format, construction, grade, fixing method, and finish resolved together.
Made-to-order manufacture - Flooring produced specifically to the agreed specification.
Installation & finishing - Managed installation with attention to tolerances, detailing, and sequencing.
This structure allows design intent, material performance, and installation reality to remain aligned throughout.
Oversight & responsibility
All bespoke commissions are overseen directly by the principal installer and organiser behind the practice.
With experience delivering premium residential flooring within high-value private homes outside London, the service now undertakes a limited number of bespoke projects in prime London locations where architectural sensitivity and installation precision are critical.
Design coordination, technical resolution, and installation responsibility remain unified, ensuring clarity of accountability from initial survey through to completion.
Project suitability
This service is intended for clients who:
Commissioning work as part of a high-value refurbishment or new build
Are working with an architect or interior designer, or at equivalent design stage
Understand bespoke work as a process, not a product selection
Value restraint, longevity, and technical correctness over speed
For this reason, we do not provide instant quotations or indicative pricing.
A minimum project threshold applies to ensure suitability.
Initial consultation
Initial enquiries are reviewed to confirm that a bespoke approach is appropriate for the property and project stage.
Where suitable, a technical consultation is arranged.
If your project is better served by a non-bespoke solution, this will be advised.
